Andrew Hiebl hits running target for mental health

So far, he has raised more than $5,000 and has reached his target of 870 kilometres ahead of schedule, just in time for the PCOA Conference in Hobart this Sunday.

Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) chief executive officer and Business Events Council of Australia (BECA) secretary, Andrew Hiebl has announced he has hit his target of running 870 kilometres “from Canberra to Hobart.”

A respected industry leader and passionate mental health advocate, Hiebl kicked off his mission in August to shine a spotlight on mental health awareness and raise funds for the charity Beyond Blue.

So far, Hiebl has raised $5,695 and has reached his target of 870 kilometres ahead of schedule in just under 18 weeks, just in time for the PCOA Conference in Hobart this Sunday.

“While doing good for others, this has also been a life-changing experience for me personally,” Hiebl said.

“Along the way, I have managed to run down many “memory lane” destinations, in most Australian capital cities, 100km between Auckland and Christchurch, 50 kilometres in the USA, and many laps around my local Canberra neighbourhood. My highlight so far has been to run across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco with an old AACB work colleague, Mike Fuller.”

Hiebl said he still technically has the Hobart Airport to Hobart City leg to go on Sunday morning and is open to all those who want to join, but for those of us that prefer to cheer from the sidelines, donations can still be made to the mental health fundraiser #RunToPCOA22 by donating to Beyond Blue.
