Iconic Sorrento venue set for summer reopening

The multi-million-dollar redevelopment will unveil 13 food and beverage outlets, and a collection of unique events spaces.

The Continental Sorrento’s multi-million-dollar redevelopment is on track for its summer opening, which will unveil 13 highly anticipated food and beverage outlets, as well as a collection of unique events spaces.

Located on Ocean Beach Road in the idyllic coastal town of Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, the 145-year-old heritage listed building has been painstakingly restored and is set to open progressively from December.

Helmed by celebrated chef-restaurateur Scott Pickett and renowned publican Craig Shearer, the hotel’s food and beverage offerings will include a public bar, beer garden, conservatory, pool-side bar, late-night venue, 24-hour in-room dining, a sunset roof deck open for private bookings, and signature restaurant Audrey’s—named after Pickett’s grandmother who inspired him to cook.

With a dedicated events level, ‘The Conti’ precinct will also feature a collection of event spaces to host every type of function—from conferences and executive retreats to intimate dining, product launches, gala awards, private celebration sunset soirees, roof deck cocktails, and virtual and hybrid events.

The events level spaces include the building’s original iconic Grand Ballroom which has been restored to its former glory and can host up to 130 cocktails style and 90 banquet style; Halcyon Hall, accommodating up to 200 theatre style and 140 banquet style; The Gallery, which is ideal for breakout sessions, boardroom style meetings and intimate dining experiences for up to 70 people; and the Sunset Roof Deck for an event with unbeatable views of Port Phillip Bay.
