Following a $176 million refurbishment and expansion, the award-winning Cairns Convention Centre’s new expansion is quickly becoming very popular with event organisers and delegates.
The world-class redevelopment has solidified the highly regarded centre as a showcase venue for Queensland, enhancing Cairns Convention Centre’s position as a leader for business events.
The expansion is unique in its design, by bringing the natural assets of the region into the new spaces. Large windows with incredible natural light, create a seamless flow to the views outside. The spaces give event organisers enormous creative license to develop unique events for their guests, creating memorable experiences for everyone.
The state-of-the-art expansion delivers an additional 10,500 sqm of flexible meeting, banquet and exhibition space. The standout feature of the expansion is a show-stopping new addition – the Trinity Level with a banquet room and outdoor terrace.
The Trinity Room is the largest space to be unveiled as part of the expansion and is ideal for gala dinners and large cocktail receptions. The adjoining Trinity Terrace provides the perfect backdrop as a pre-function space complete with indoor and alfresco options with outstanding views over the Trinity Inlet and the ranges beyond, allowing delegates to soak in Cairns’ tropical climate.
Adding to the Centre’s expanded space is the refurbishment of the Mezzanine Level, which includes a new 440-seat plenary and Mezzanine Exhibition space accommodating up to 30 booths. Completing the Mezzanine Level is the addition of three new meeting rooms, catering for up to 370 delegates.
Part of the significant expansion project also includes a large undercover Porte Cochere planted with native and tropical flora. The unique immersion with the landscape allows delegates to experience the tropics in a unique way. The sense of arrival and flexibility of the space serves as an additional outdoor exhibition and gathering space.
