First Nations culture in events: Ideas Academy presented by Spice at AIME 2024

John Burgess, director of strategy at First Nations creative and marketing agency Little Rocket, and Emma Bamblett and Megan Van Den Berg, co-owners of design and art business Kinya Lerrk, are presenting a session on First Nations culture in events at the Ideas Academy presented by Spice at AIME 2024.

For the first time, Spice is presenting the Ideas Academy at AIME 2024 – to be held on 20-21 February at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre – with keynote speaker sessions and panel discussions delivering expert information and knowledge sharing about the events industry.

Each Ideas Academy presented by Spice session will be delivered silently via individual headphones, with high-quality, informative content providing practical takeaways for attendees to implement in their businesses.

Topics covered include event marketing, sustainability, food and beverage, entertainment, team building, First Nations culture and wellness.

On Tuesday, 20 February, from 9.45am to 10.15am, John (pictured, above), Emma and Megan will present the “First Nations Culture in Events” session, in which they will discuss the rise of First Nations innovation and offerings within the Australian tourism sector.

The trio will touch on protocols and cultural considerations, types of vendors, event organisers, speakers, artists, entertainment and caterers that are operating and how to access them.

They will provide attendees with some tools to get the best from this thriving sector, and look at adopting best practice when wanting to increase supplier engagement.

Ideas Academy presented by Spice sessions are free for all AIME attendees without booking.

Registrations for AIME 2024, which runs from 19-21 February, are now open at aime.com.au.
