Rydges takes over Holiday Inn Old Sydney

Refurb plans are already underway for the iconic heritage property.

Holiday Inn Old Sydney will rebrand to Rydges Sydney Harbour on 14 January 2020, following a competitive bid for management rights.

The win for Rydges, and parent company Event Hospitality & Entertainment (Event), comes off the back of a strong run of new management agreements over the last 18 months.

Event director of hotels and resorts Norman Arundel welcomed the property to the portfolio, saying it is a “true icon of Sydney”.

“Our team is excited about the appointment and look forward to bringing Rydges’ signature style and genuine commitment to delivering great service and hospitality to the hotel and our guests in the New Year,” he said.

“Given the significance of the property as one of the most in-demand hotels in the country, the strong understanding of the local market we bring is particularly important.

“We are looking forward to an exciting new era for the hotel, harnessing the power and expertise of the Rydges brand to realise the full potential of the property and deliver unrivalled experiences for guests.”
