Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has released the first in a series of videos taking viewers behind-the-scenes at the iconic venue to meet the creators and innovators making MCEC Melbourne’s Home of the Unconventional. The inspiring new series reveals the people and stories behind MCEC’s world-class events offering and the visionaries leading a blue-sky revolution to make the industry bolder, brighter and better.

Produced in collaboration with Melbourne filmmakers Monster and Bear, the series is designed to introduce viewers to some of the key roles and contributors to the MCEC customer journey. It will run throughout 2022 as part of a multi-channel marketing campaign supporting MCEC’s wider ‘Home of the Unconventional’ brand campaign.

Episode one features Sam Ferrier, MCEC’s dynamic sustainability manager and the driving force behind their ambitious five-year sustainability strategy. The strategy has drawn praise from across the industry for its uncompromising commitment to minimising environmental impact and creating actionable solutions for generating substantial industry change.

‘The strategy is about being aware of our scope of influence and driving social and environmental solutions to create meaningful long-term impact’, explains Ferrier. ‘As an industry, the events sector needs to be accountable for the impact it has on the world around us. In order to make a meaningful shift across the sector, we must all commit to a shared vision of change. MCEC is providing that commitment through our ambitious targets and resourcing.’

‘Our vision is to lead extraordinary environmental change and amplify our social impact, by forging partnerships and inspiring our people, to leave a positive legacy.’
