Gold Coast facility is humanising conferences

Gold Coast conference and hotel facility Mantra at Sharks & Events Centre has launched new sustainability packages designed to answer the on-going question of how conference organisers achieve health and nutrition while conferencing.

Traditionally, conferences are an unnatural situation, not designed for healthy humans. Think about it. Conference delegates are usually sitting for hours on end in an uncomfortable, non-ergonomic chair and subject to meeting for an entire day in a climate-controlled, bland window-less space that utilises recirculated-air.

Delegates are then served processed food. A typical breakfast offering could consist of up to 50% sugar – pastries, which are heavy in sugar and possibly yoghurt (again, more sugar!). Lunch is usually no better, with fried food and white bread which are both highly processed.

Mantra at Sharks and Events Centre is seeking to change the conferencing landscape.

The Sustain. Health. Knowledge package, launched in December 2019, offers an array of features designed with a focus on delegates as people who need fresh air, movement and quality food.

Start the day with an on-demand barista coffee service, followed by healthy morning tea options including vitality, green detox shots, gluten-free raw slices and protein balls. The Ray of Light lunch is served in a bento box outdoors on picnic blankets, giving delegates time in the fresh air.

The nutritionally balanced lunch menus feature dishes such as lemon peppered seared tuna over brown rice salad with edamame beans, quinoa and kale salad.

All food is created by in-house chefs in conjunction with personal trainers and expert dieticians. The team encourages sustainability and support for local businesses.

The on-site Fitness Centre contributes to the package with friendly and experienced personal trainers able to conduct a personal movement screen test for delegates, showing their spine alignment. Trainers will demonstrate ways to improve posture and balance, provide a five-minute shoulder massage, and a 10-minute after lunch revitalisation session.

To launch the program, Mantra at Sharks and Events Centre has a special offer for residential conferences.

Book a minimum two-day conference with Sharks Events Centre and receive a complimentary upgrade to the new Sustain. Health. Knowledge. package on the second day. Plus, accommodation from $115 per room, per night at Mantra at Sharks hotel.

Sale ends in 31 March 2020.
