Record submissions for MEA Awards

Entries for the event awards were up by 18 per cent this year.

Meetings & Events Australia (MEA) has officially closed submissions for the 2019 awards, after receiving a record number of entries.

The 2019 MEA Awards nominations closed with an 18 per cent year-on-year increase in the number of submissions.

MEA CEO Robyn Johnson said it was an outstanding response.

“We are delighted with the high number of submissions from across the country,” she said.

“This demonstrates the depth of talent and professionalism in the Australian industry and is a great endorsement of the value the industry has in the awards program.”

Judging is now underway, with more than 70 national and international judges set to review the submissions, before state and territory finalists are announced at their respective MEA Award events in March and April.

The finalists will go on as hopefuls in the 2019 MEA National Awards, which will be presented at Evolve 2020 on 5 May at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley.

Johnson added, submissions for the Outstanding Contribution Award remain open until 31 March 2020 and encourages submissions that “recognise the contribution an individual has made to the Australian events industry”.
