Convene gains great support

NZ's South Island suppliers to the meetings, incentives and functions sectors have been quick to embrace their own exhibition.

NZ’s South Island suppliers to the meetings, incentives and functions sectors have been quick to embrace their own exhibition.

Organisers of Convene South, report steady bookings and strong interest in the event, which is being held at the Air Force Museum, Wigram on Tuesday September 3.

Convene South will attract hosted buyers from Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin and other centres, as well as ‘walk in’ buyers from the local Christchurch and Canterbury market.

The Christchurch and Canterbury Convention Bureau is a partner in the event and will be helping to encourage buyers to attend with some spectacular familiarisation tours in the days leading up to Convene South.

Event manager Allyssa Eastaugh says the format allows not only major players but also smaller operators to take part in the inaugural event.

‘The cost structure and one day duration means companies can use this as an entry into the conference, meetings and incentives market. We are keen to work with them and to make it happen.’

She says organisations like Hassle Free Tours, Buller Top of the South, and Image Solutions have already signed up. This is in addition to major hotel and venue providers such as Heritage Hotels and Heritage Boutique Collection, Scenic Hotel Group, Crowne Plaza Queenstown and a number of others. Vbase Venues and Events has been confirmed as a major sponsor of the event.

Buyer registration will open early June and details of the famil tours, Convene South cocktail function and seminars will all be released soon.
