Industry Leaders panel announced for Events Uncovered 2023

The Industry Update Panel 'Looking towards the future' will be a key highlight of the program, with high-profile industry leaders sharing their insights

Events Uncovered is thrilled to announce four esteemed Australian business events industry leaders will take to the stage next month to share their knowledge and insights at the Spice Knowledge Sessions.

Running alongside the free-to-attend expo on 10 August at Sydney Masonic Centre (SMC), the Spice Knowledge Sessions will present thought-provoking keynote presentations and insightful panel discussions across a broad range of topics.

The Industry Update Panel ‘Looking towards the future’ will be a key highlight of the program, with four high-profile industry leaders set to share their insights into the current state of the industry and forecast the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

The Industry Update Panel is: Robin Mack, Tourism Australia executive general manager of Commercial & Business Events Australia; Matt Pearce, Talk2Media & Events CEO and ABEA deputy chair; Simone Seiler, FCM Meetings & Events general manager; and Kristian Nicholls, Business Events Sydney executive general manager bidding.

Robin Mack

Tourism Australia executive general manager of Commercial & Business Events Australia

Robin Mack has worked in the travel and tourism industry for almost 30 years, working across travel retailers, wholesalers and airlines including British Airways and Qantas before focusing on destination marketing. He joined Tourism Australia in 2012 and has held several roles before his appointment as executive general manager Commercial & Business Events Australia in July 2021.

Mack will share his insights into the current business events climate in Australia, share key highlights on international business events recovery, discuss expected challenges and opportunities for the next 12-18 months, and tell you how you can tap into Business Events Australia’s resources to help support your events.

Matt Pearce

Talk2Media & Events CEO and ABEA deputy chair

Matt Pearce is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Talk2 Media & Events, which owns and runs a variety of trade and consumer exhibitions throughout Australia, including the annual Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME).

He was recently appointed deputy chair of Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) and will be providing an update on the Association, its structure and what it wants to achieve for the industry.

“The Business Events industry is alive and well and I am looking forward to attending and speaking at Events Uncovered in Sydney in August about the Australian Business Events,” Pearce said.

“It’s also a great time to meet up with industry friends and colleagues and to keep up with what is happening in our industry.”

Simone Seiler

FCM Meetings & Events general manager

Simone Seiler has more than 23 years’ experience in the travel and events industry. Her key focuses are fostering an inclusive, purpose-driven, and collaborative workplace culture – making a difference at every opportunity.

Seiler will join the panel to give her insights and updates on the state of the travel and business events industry and said she shares in the feeling of excitement and possibility within the industry.

“We’ve certainly experienced a steady rush of demand for meetings and events. There’s no let-up in corporates wanting to connect and engage with their teams face-to-face which is very positive. The opportunity here is to continually design and deliver extraordinary experiences that exceed the evolving needs of our clients and delight audiences in new and inclusive ways,” Seiler said.

“I look forward to discussing the trajectory of the next few years with fellow thought-leaders, as well as showcasing where FCM Meetings & Events will fit into the landscape.”

Kristian Nicholls

Business Events Sydney executive general manager bidding

Kristian Nicholls brings over 25 years’ experience in international bidding to BESydney and its public and private stakeholders, to secure global meetings of strategic, economic and social benefit to Sydney and Australia.
