Geraldton’s prime location for events in WA

The centre's proximity to Perth and other popular destinations within the region makes it ideal for business events.

Since opening its doors in June this year, The Gerald Apartment Hotel’s Batavia Coast Conference Centre has been off to a flying start, hosting numerous events and booking out at rapid pace.

Located in the coastal town of Geraldton, Western Australia, the venue is a four-and-a-half-hour drive or one-hour flight north of Perth, and is the only conference centre between Perth and Broome. A number of the region’s popular destinations are within easy reach, including the Abrolhos Islands, the charming river town of Kalbarri, and Kalbarri National Park, to name a few.

The Gerald Apartment Hotel owner and general manager Grant Pitman said the centre’s proximity to Perth for those seeking capable conference facilities along this vast stretch of coastline, makes it the ideal location.

“The venue is conveniently close to Perth which makes it beneficial for organisations based here from a cost and time point of view,” Pitman said.

“Transporting staff from Perth to Geraldton is easy and provides unique accessibility which is one of the main advantages of booking a function with our team. The transport aspect is also more cost effective whether getting to Geraldton through air or road.”

The purpose-built conference centre offers six events spaces, including The FitzGerald, which is the largest, catering for up to 350 people. Wajarri offers a more intimate setting for private meetings and training sessions, while The Meeting Room is set aside from other public areas and offers extra privacy features for more confidential meetings.

Further to this, the new conference venue adds to The Geraldton Hotel’s own spaces, which include the late-night cocktail bar Bob’s Boutique Bar, and Old Man and The Sea Rooftop Bar, both of which can be hired out exclusively.

“We have the infrastructure to facilitate large conference events, giving our guests the opportunity to stay over at our boutique hotel while also enjoying our other offerings such as the rooftop bar.”

Earlier this month, the multi-award-winning hotel scooped up the award for the Best Regional Hotel in Western Australia at the annual Australian Hotel Association’s awards evening.
