SkyCity’s mission is to deliver exceptional, unrivalled meeting and events experiences in an iconic South Australian setting. We challenge expectations by providing a new standard in restaurant quality cuisine, 5-star service and state of the art technology in a fully integrated world class resort.

The Showcase commenced with small private group tours of Eos by SkyCity’s rooms and suites, including the Grace Villa, Spa and Wellness Centre, Leisure Deck, and Sol Rooftop Bar and Lounge.

Arriving later at SkyCity’s dedicated Level 2 functions floor, guests were greeted with canapés and cocktails from sophisticated pop up bars under an impressive chandelier light installation, whilst a roving saxophonist and DJ played. After a fantastic Welcome to Country, guests enjoyed comedy and entertainment whilst taking in SkyCity’s five star service and catering, including a custom-made ‘Eos White Chocolate Cloud” dessert with a behind the scenes video demonstrating the skill of Head Pastry Chef Russell Le Comte and his Team in making this masterpiece.

What are some of the venue’s highlights?

The SkyCity Ballroom, with six-metre-high floor-to-ceiling windows bathes the room in natural lights and includes fantastic views of the River Torrens, surrounding parklands and the iconic Adelaide Oval. This contemporary space with modern fittings and furnishing can hold up to 440 guests seated and also has the versatility to divide into two separate rooms. A sweeping balcony allows guests to step outside from the Western side of the Ballroom for fresh air and a fantastic view of the surrounding Riverbank.

Three beautifully furnished Executive Boardrooms are perfect for private meetings or breakout spaces and are furnished with 5.4m boardroom tables. The tables are fitted the latest modern technology. Patent leather boardroom chairs create the feel of sophistication and prestige. In-built fridges stocked with a variety of beverages are available for guests to use throughout their meeting as they wish.

Their teams are based in a variety of venues around Australia and New Zealand as well as working with many clients on live shows, entertainment and festivals around the globe. We are lucky enough to work exclusively with them as a venue partner in SA.

What is one thing event planners might not know about the venue?

Interior designers Hecker Guthrie & Walter Brooke actively engaged with Adelaide’s flourishing art and design community in the crafting of Eos by SkyCity’s interior atmospheres, embracing and amplifying local perspectives through a broad range of curated and commissioned artworks, objects and furniture.

SkyCity is proud to feature an impressive body of artwork. More than 900 pieces by 40 South Australian artists feature in the new SkyCity Adelaide, including all function and events spaces. Curation of the collection was overseen by former AGSA Chair, Tracey Whiting. Guests can explore the stories behind each piece of the collection via Eos by SkyCity’s in-room tablets.

How sustainable is this venue?

SkyCity Adelaide is certified carbon neutral and recognises that sustainability is critical to all levels of business and operations. As part of lessening our impact on the environment, the Events at SkyCity Team also employs a number of departmental initiatives such as minimising unnecessary laundering by encouraging clients to book events with no tablecloths, banishing single use plastics in front and back of house, recycled and recyclable materials such as coasters, napkins and straws and 100% waste diversion from landfill.

We offer an extensive range of mouth-watering, freshly made masterpieces, taking guests on a culinary and sensory journey. These offerings include unique enhancements such as live cooking stations, seafood on ice, themed desserts, 7-course degustation and culture specific banquets.  Our delicious menus allow for flexibility and cater to all tastes and dietary requirements.

Absolutely everything is created in-house by our Team of highly skilled chefs meaning that all cuisine is of the freshest quality and additionally, as part of SkyCity’s sustainability initiative, supports local producers, reducing the need for transport, refrigeration and packaging costs.

How has the venue adapted during COVID?

Events at SkyCity was opened at a unique time during the pandemic where Covid was already part of the landscape. In order to operate a fully functional event facility the team implemented a covid safe plan adhering to government restrictions and taking its own measures to enable safely executed events.

SkyCity employs a mandatory vaccination policy for its staff and even today gives the option to clients for service staff to wear masks during their event. Hand sanitisers can be made available on all tables and are stationed throughout public areas.

SkyCity also created a Virtual Tour in conjunction with Business Events Australia and Lateral Vision,  meaning clients do not unnecessarily need to come onsite if they do not wish. This proved helpful both for locals and also for interstate event planners who were unable to travel due to restrictions.
