New Zealand’s capital city to get a DoubleTree.

The seven-story hotel, expected to open in late 2017, will be located at Lambton Quay on the main street of downtown Wellington.

“DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington is a wonderful addition to our growing portfolio of hotels across Australasia,” said Dianna Vaughan, senior vice president and global head, DoubleTree by Hilton.

“The hotel boasts an ideal location for both the business and leisure traveller with close proximity to the central business district and walking distance to the celebrated Te Papa Museum, the iconic cable car, numerous unique shops and vibrant cafes.”

The hotel will have 108 rooms, including 21 suites, a restaurant, bar, boardroom and a gym.

“We are committed to growing Hilton’s presence in New Zealand and the signing of DoubleTree by Hilton Wellington is integral to our regional portfolio expansion plans for the country, which focus on the key cities as well as the leisure destinations across both the North and South Islands of New Zealand,” said Robert Scullin, vice president, development Australasia, Hilton.
