Following its temporary closure for its annual refurbishment, Flames of the Forest has re-opened with a celebratory air, marking 10 years of operation in its stunning tropical rainforest venue of Far North Queensland.

“A decade of creating special events is such a significant milestone for us and one that we are keen to celebrate,” said Flames’ sales and marketing manager Natalie Johnson.

“In that time over 60 thousand leisure and business guests have dined in our special pocket of candle lit rainforest. Many have taken away stories of our local Indigenous people while many have walked away engaged and some even married. From a corporate perspective, it is safe to say that our delegates have experienced something completely unique.”

Tropical North Queensland’s Flames of the Forest has undergone a refurbishment and celebrates 10 years of events.

She added “I remember the night we opened – in true tropical North Queensland style it rained! We are hoping it holds off this evening for our first night back from refurbishment!”

The 2013 refurbishment has included the updating and installation of decorative lighting, including an increased number of bud-light stars and thorough overhaul of the bathrooms.

Also updated is the menu and dining options with executive chef David Spencer upping the presence of tropical produce.

“We wanted to feature more tropical fruits this year while continuing to offer our native Australian kangaroo and crocodile dishes. We are really thrilled and proud of our menu this year.”

Tucked away in a fairy tale pocket of rainforest, Flames of the Forest opened in March 2003 producing stunning off site rainforest events, combining magnificent local produce with a spectacular candle lit setting offering a fantastic selection of entertainment and impressive special effects. The venue caters for groups of 10 guests through to 850 guests for a sit down dinner and has the advantage of no noise restrictions giving groups the opportunity to enjoy live music and dancing for longer.

Since opening, Flames of the Forest has also gained an international reputation for its two rainforest leisure experiences:

The Aboriginal Cultural Experience features two local Aboriginal brothers sharing their remarkable culture with guests during the evening. The performance includes a cultural background, story telling, didgeridoo playing and song.

The Rainforest Dining Experience showcases a six course tropical tasting menu and quality Australian wines. Perfect for those seeking a unique dining experience.

Flames of the Forest has won awards for its innovation and cuisine including being a winner of SPICE Magazines “Best Regional Venue” in both 2011 and 2012, a finalist in the 2009 & 2010 Australian Event Awards, has been listed in Australian Traveller Magazine as one of the ‘Top 100 Things to do in Australia and now, its 100 Greatest Australian Gourmet Experiences.

The venue is located just 15 minutes from Port Douglas, 40 minutes from Palm Cove and one hour from Cairns.
