A look inside the new Pullman Melbourne on Swanston

The former Mercure-branded hotel has undergone a $30 million transformation.

Accor has unveiled a brand new Pullman hotel in Melbourne, following a major rebuild and rebrand of the former Swanston Hotel Grand Mercure.

Following a $30 million transformation, the new Pullman Melbourne on Swanston emerges with 205 guest rooms and suites in a prime CBD location.

Deluxe room

The project challenged hotel convention and will raise the bar on hotel product in the city, according to Ricky Jeffs, CEO at Erdigroup, which owns the property.

“The original building was stripped-back to its structural bones – nothing was left untouched in the major overhaul, which has delivered a striking façade, re-designed guest rooms, a designer lobby, a brand new restaurant and an exclusive club lounge overlooking the city,” he said.

Located on Swanston Street, the hotel offers guests an authentic Melbourne experience with a hidden laneway entrance from Little Bourke Street.

“Key to the hotel’s design is an intriguing laneway entry that draws visitors in from Little Bourke Street through an ‘architectural tunnel’ opening onto an arresting lobby space to provide a distinct sense of arrival for guests,” said Jeffs.

Eva’s Restaurant & Bar

“The hotel has been tailored to smart, successful business and leisure travellers who value immersive spaces, trendsetting food and beverage and leading-edge design – it will offer a seamless and intuitive experience, while providing access to Melbourne’s famed arts, culture, shopping and fashion.”

Tucked away on the mezzanine level, Eva’s Restaurant & Bar offers all-day dining and drinks to appeal to guests and locals alike.

The exclusive Club Lounge, a Pullman brand signature, is located on level 15 and boasts views of the city. Club guests also have access to an exclusive private event space, Room 1954.

Simon McGrath, chief operating officer at Accor Pacific welcomed the opportunity to partner with Erdigroup on the hotel.
