Event in the spotlight: Luna Park lights up for IGNITE 2019

The venue came alive with roving performers, lights, lasers and a Champagne wall.

Luna Park Sydney recently played host to 250 corporate event professionals for its annual showcase, IGNITE 2019.

Coinciding with Vivid Sydney, the showcase was a joint effort between Funktionality Events and Experiences and Luna Park Venues, who together produced a jam-packed night of entertainment, styling inspiration, food and activation ideas.

Styling

IGNITE 2019 kicked off in Luna Park’s Palais cocktail room with a showcase of Funktionality’s décor capabilities.

Among the styling ideas was a champagne wall, LED wristbands and themed areas, which were set amongst sweeping views of the city skyline.

Guests then progressed to the Harbourside Crystal Palace Ballroom for the next installment of the evening.

Entertainment

Guests were treated to a visual and musical spectacle with a laser and light show, electric shape shifters, glowbots, funky dance performances, bands, DJs, roving entertainment with magicians and hula artists.

Funktionality managing director Tracy Wood was thrilled with the success on the event.

“Helping clients deliver a wow factor for their event is something my team at Funktionality pride ourselves on,” she said.

“Working with Luna Park Venues for IGNITE 2019 makes sense on every level. What better way to share ideas on food, theming and entertainment than at such an iconic Sydney location.”

Food and beverage

Luna Park Sydney executive chef Gavin Berrecloth showcased the venue’s award-winning culinary offering with a Vivid-inspired menu for guests.

Among the dishes was bright pea sorrel lemon oil served in shot glasses; raw salmon with roe, avocado, crisp kale served in black sesame cones and a savoury doughnut wall.

A dessert station offered dry ice micro sponge wheat grass tufts, soils and crystals, plus a range of glowing mini glazed cakes of various shapes and finishes.

Luna Park Sydney general manager James Granter said IGNITE 2019 was the perfect way to inspire clients with new event ideas.

“[The event] really showcases what can be achieved when Luna Park’s unique venues and our in-house culinary team join forces with Funktionality Events and Experiences,” he said.

“For many years, Tracy Wood and her talented team at Funktionality have delivered creativity and outstanding event management.”
