Urban Purveyor Group is set to open a Bavarian bierhaus in South Wharf, Melbourne.

Launching mid-August, the new-build venue will seat over 900 people, with 250 waterfront seats, three bars and private function rooms.

The menu will focus heavily on locally sourced suckling pig cooked over a charcoal spit, a signature Munich Lager and a series of exclusively imported Bavarian Biers. The Fürstenburg Premium Pils will be exclusive to the venue, alongside favourites like the Löwenbräu Original, Stiegl Goldbräu, Franziskaner Hefe Weizen Hell and seasonal brews like the Oktoberfestbier.

Launching just in time for Oktoberfest and Melbourne’s spring and summer events calendar, Munich will be the hotspot for the AFL final series (just around the corner from Etihad Stadium), Fashion Week and Spring Racing Carnival.

The Urban Purveyor Group has owned and operated Sydney’ Löwenbräu Keller for over 40 years, as well as nine Bavarian Bier Café venues across NSW and Queensland. Munich Brauhaus is the group’s second Victorian venue, with its first being Southgate’s Saké Restaurant and Bar that opened in August 2012.
