Matt Moran travels to the Top End for T-Qual

Chef Matt Moran has visited the Northern Territory on the third leg of the T-QUAL Tick Tour. Matt took the trip to the Top End to experience and showcase some of the best tourism experiences endorsed by the Australian Government’s new national symbol of tourism quality, the T-QUAL Tick.

Matt began his tour on a Thursday afternoon with a nerve-racking experience at Crocosaurus Cove, the world’s largest display of Australian reptiles and some of the largest Saltwater Crocodiles in world. Matt got up close and personal with these iconic animals, feeding giant crocs, holding a baby croc and even swimming with them in the ‘Cage of Death’!

Thursday evening brought a spectacular sunset and dinner at SKYCITY Darwin’s EVOO, where Matt enjoyed an amazing seven course degustation menu that combined Australian and Mediterranean influences with a touch of Eastern flavours.

After a full day’s adventure experiencing T-QUAL endorsed products, Matt returned to the comfort and refined surroundings of Mandalay Luxury Stay. The perfect place for the chef to relax, Mandalay is Darwin’s most exclusive accommodation offering, and conveniently situated on The Esplanade, just minutes away from Darwin’s CBD.

Friday morning began early with a Northern Territory Indigenous Tour – a 100 per cent indigenous owned family company. The tour included a Helicopter ride with Airborne Solutions to a spectacular waterfall where Matt indulged in lunch among the unique setting of the tropical rainforest.

Matt took to the water on Saturday morning, learning about the habitat and history of the harbour with Sea Darwin unique eco cruises. The interactive adventure saw Matt learn how to throw spears and taste traditional delicacies such as kangaroo tail and periwinkles.

“The Northern Territory has a huge amount of history, culture and natural wonders, just waiting to be explored. As one of the last remaining outback regions, the Top End offers diverse holiday opportunities for everyone, whatever your age or interests. Now these quality experiences are even easier to find – all you have to do is look for the T-QUAL Tick when you book your next holiday,” he said.
