The 14 members of the Association of Australian Convention Bureaus (AACB) have announced a new national campaign to build Australia’s business events industry.

Entitled ‘What Is the Bureau‘, the campaign is designed to heighten the profile of business events in Australia and encourage meeting planners to understand and use the free services.

The campaign includes promotions via direct mail, newspaper advertising a DVD, a dedicated website and a series of free seminars will also be held in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Brisbane.

The AACB said business events are the most lucrative sector of Australia’s tourism industry, worth an estimated $17.1 billion per annum.

But Australia has recently dropped out of the ranking of the top 10 countries for business events — a trend it wants to reverse.
