Outrigger Twin Towns Resort on the QLD/NSW border has partnered with eco tour operator, Australian Wild Escapes, to offer guests day trips unlocking the secrets of the ancient rainforests and river towns of the Tweed Valley.

The new full-day tour coincides with Tourism Australia recently classifying the Tweed Valley as a ‘must-see destination’, and one of only eight areas on its National Landscapes register.

It take visitors to areas not widely covered on traditional tourist routes, offering guests rare insights into the Tweed Valley or, more correctly, the Mt Warning Wollumbin Caldera — the largest extinct shield volcano in the world – formed 20 million years ago.

The majestic Tweed Valley in northern NSW is an ecological paradise

The tours cater for groups from two up to 14 and stop frequently at quaint river towns and villages, with guests sampling everything from local arts and crafts, to luscious tropical fruits from the many roadside produce stalls dotting the valley.

There a plenty of opportunities to stretch the legs and soak in the heady rainforest scents, with four national parks covered on the tour and easy bushwalks leading to spectacular lookouts along the way.

One of the highlights is stopping for lunch at the historic timber-milling town of Tyalgum, where guests can mingle with locals at a charming pub before continuing on to Springbrook National Park and beyond.

Australian Wild Escapes tours will operate from 8:30am to 5:00pm, four days per week (or on demand) and depart from Outrigger Twin Towns Resort.

Day trips start from $185 per person and include all meals and refreshments. Combined accommodation and tour packages are also available and bookings can be made by calling 1800 19 20 20 or visiting www.outrigger.com.
