Holly & Ivy co-founders Jane Moggridge and Aimee Wood share some top tips for achieving Christmas party perfection:

1. Get organised
Make a list of what needs to be done and what suppliers you will need to help you. Know the budget you are working to and keep track of costs so you won’t go over.

2. Work to deadlines
Work back from the party date and always give yourself a buffer to allow for any unforeseen problems. Create deadlines and stick to them!

3. Decide on a creative direction
Pick a colour scheme of two or three colours to avoid overdoing it. The expression ‘less is more’ definitely applies so keep it simple and stylish.

4. Timely invites
Make sure your invites are sent out in plenty of time. Christmas is such a busy time of year for most people so if you value their company at your party, give them enough notice so they can attend.

5. Hiring the experts
If you need to be the host with the most then think about hiring an event planner so you can spend quality time with your guests and enjoy the party without worrying about whether everyone has had their glasses topped up or if the canapés are being served on time.
