Old Hollywood glamour took centre stage last week (March 1) as Myer revealed its 2011 Autumn Winter Collection in a cinematic inspired show at The Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne.

The showcase, proudly supported by Russian Standard Vodka and  handmade bourbon whisky brand, Maker’s Mark, the evening celebrated ladylike chic, with luxurious fabrics, artful tailoring and feminine silhouettes.

Myer ambassador, Jennifer Hawkins, international model, Jessica Hart and Myer Menswear ambassador, Kris Smith were amongst the 60 models who took to the stage to showcase three key trends – Ladylike Chic, Urban Army and Country Club – from leading Australian and international designers.

Adding to the evening’s Hollywood theme were glamorous cocktails from Russian Standard Vodka and Maker’s Mark, specially created for the event by Brand Ambassadors Oliver Stuart for Russian Standard and Jared Plummer for Maker’s Mark.

Russian Standard’s Greyhound came from the golden era of American drinking; it was at the height of its popularity in 1950’s Hollywood. Finished with a candy stripe straw, the simple and crisp combination of grapefruit juice and Russian Standard Vodka was a highlight at the show’s after-party.

From Maker’s Mark came a star of the Silver Screen, the Mint Julep. Staring opposite a young Elizabeth Taylor, Spencer Tracy served Mint Juleps in the 1950 Classic film “Father of the Bride”. Maker’s Mark whisky combined with Peach Liqueur, served long over crushed ice with fresh mint, made this drink the refreshing sipper of the Hollywood stars and for the guests.

Myer guests who like their drinks a little shorter were treated to another Hollywood favourite, the Manhattan, made with Maker’s Mark, Vermouth and Angostura Bitters served over ice and garnished with a Morello Cherry. Rounding off the menu of premium cocktails on offer was Russian Standard Platinum, served simply with crushed ice, bitters and paper-thin lime wheels.
