Event in the Spotlight: Microhire’s Inspired Showcase

Australian event staging company Microhire recently held its Inspired Showcase where guests could get a hands-on experience with audiovisual technology at The Calyx at Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

What was the event?

Microhire’s Inspired Showcase in Sydney on Tuesday, 22 July, 2025.

Where was it held?

The Calyx at Botanic Garden Sydney.

How many guests attended?

There were 55 qualified event organisers, PCOs, corporate event planners, marketing agencies, exhibition organisers and builders, and destination management representatives from BESydney.

The event’s organisers kept the number to a highly qualified, intimate gathering.

What was the planning process for the event?

It was a collaboration between three parties: The Calyx at Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, Laissez-faire Catering and Microhire.

The event was designed to inspire and educate guests and showcase a hands-on experience with Microhire’s new AV technology, while enjoying a combination of flavours from Laissez-faire Catering and the splendour and whimsical delight The Calyx environment provides in the heart of Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

Microhire’s aim was to provide a multisensory event experience engaging all five senses of sight, smell, sound, taste and touch.

What were the highlights of the event?

Microhire showcased its AV solutions, including:

  • A 7m x 3m curved LED wall with 2.6mm pixel pitch (very high resolution) and custom-created content featuring an image of the garden wall to create an illusion followed by rolling design imagery.
  • A 270-degree LED DJ wall surround – another fun concept for branding or design content that is a sustainable option with reusable LED panels rather than prefabricated materials or vinyl decals.
  • 55-inch transparent LED touchscreens, which are suited for entrance and registration desks.
  • 43-inch angled touchscreen kiosks.
  • 2-metre free-standing LED posters.

Laissez-faire Catering worked with Microhire to curate a menu featuring hot and cold canapes, including seared scallops, roast pumpkin arancini, mini lobster rolls and caramel creme brulees.

Roving entertainers were the mid-century Mirror Man and Lady – an elegant and a fun twist to entertainment on arrival and during the event.

Funktionality provided the black and gold wired cocktail tables and stools, a velvet bar for beverages, and outdoor mushroom heaters.

All other styling and design elements were features of the venue and Microhire’s technical components.

What was the feedback from guests?

Some of the guest testimonials included:

  • “Great to see the products in action and what offerings we can present to clients.”
  • “What a stunning venue and wonderful display of technology to enhance the architectural features of the building.”
  • “The catering was 5-star premium quality and service – a delicious combination of flavours that melted in the mouth.”
