Wellington announced as host city for MEETINGS 2023

New Zealand's annual business events showcase will be held at the new Tākina Wellington Conference and Exhibition Centre in June next year.

Business Events Industry Aotearoa (BEIA) has announced Wellington as the host city for its annual business events showcase, with MEETINGS 2023 to be held at the new Tākina Wellington Conference and Exhibition Centre in June next year.

The new-generation venue is scheduled to open in June 2023, which BEIA chief executive Lisa Hopkins said was perfect timing for the annual New Zealand event to be in a new destination following its record-setting success in Christchurch last month.

“Following a hugely successful MEETINGS 2022, held at Te Pae Christchurch, our attention is now focused on debuting the second of New Zealand’s brand new convention centres, Tākina,” Hopkins said.

“We can’t wait to bring New Zealand, Australian and international business event professionals together in Wellington for MEETINGS 2023 on Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 June. They will be meeting with the best of New Zealand’s business events products, services, solutions, venues, and, most importantly, people on a vibrant show floor.”

Wellington City Council general manager – Tākina, Commercial Development, David Perks said the capital city was excited to at last have the opportunity to host MEETINGS and showcase its new venue.

“The investment Wellington has made into Tākina is a reflection of the commitment the city has to both being a visitor destination and, as New Zealand’s capital city, being the place important conversations are had,” Perks said.

“MEETINGS in Wellington will be the perfect occasion to see the city in action, and we know that buyers and sellers alike will love their time in Wellington and the opportunity to do business here.”
