Melbourne Marriott Hotel unveils swanky new club and bar

The new offerings are part of a $1.1 million lobby refurbishment for the hotel, which celebrated its 21st birthday last week.

Melbourne Marriott Hotel celebrated its 21st birthday last week with the unveiling of its $1.1 million lobby refurbishment, including its new M Bar and the launch of M Club for loyal guests.

It marks the first of a multi-stage refurbishment for the five-star hotel, which Melbourne Marriott Hotel general manager Gaurav Wattal said has given it a modern refresh while retaining its famed character.

“Melbourne Marriott Hotel was one of the first world-class hotels to open in this cosmopolitan city and we’ve worked hard to consistently offer a premium experience and exceptional service for more than two decades that keeps our guests coming back again and again,” Wattal said.

The focal point of the new ground floor is the stylish new M Bar that’s open to both hotel guests and the public, from Wednesday to Sunday, 4pm ‘til late.

It can host up to 60 patrons and offers a 40 top-shelf whiskey brands and styles, including a wide selection from up-and-coming local distilleries. There are also more than 70 wines on offer, as well as signature cocktails and a tasty bar menu created by the hotel’s new head chef Swami Nandan.

The hotel’s new M Club for Marriott Bonvoy’s members and executive floor guests is one of the first in Australia. Designed to emulate a residential style living room, the lounge offers a sophisticated space to relax, socialise or meet for business, and offers a mix of communal tables, comfy sofas and corner nooks.

It is open daily from 6am to 10pm, serving complimentary breakfast, all-day nibbles and refreshments, as well as a rotating selection of canapés and premium beverages each evening.

One Design Office (ODO) was appointed for the design of the new look and feel.

“The interior design team has absolutely nailed the brief – they’ve been able to reimagine the space to create a modern and inviting atmosphere that flows throughout the entrance, lounge and bar areas, no matter what time of day or night guests arrive or wish to enjoy our heartfelt service,” Wattal said.

“The tone of this space better reflects the overall Melbourne Marriott Hotel experience for both guests staying in-house, as well as locals who adopt it as their ‘go-to’ when living, working or playing in and around the hotel vicinity.”
