They ‘re bigger than the average baby – at 900kg – but The Langham, Auckland couldn’t be more proud of its new adopted twins, two matching Toyota iQ cars, named Ruby and Pearl available for guest hire.

Welcoming the sparkling 18-month-olds into The Langham family, managing director Jeffrey van Vorsselen says the twins, which were happily handed over by their natural parent Toyota New Zealand, are already making friends at the five-star hotel and will be available for guests who want to use them for brief outings around the city  or quick transport to meetings without having to hire a car for a full day.

He says Ruby and Pearl’s arrival at the start of summer is perfect timing, with lots of guests sure to want to use them for outings around the city: “Whether it’s for an hour, or for a day, the cars are ideal for guests wishing to enjoy freedom and convenience around the city, during their stay at the hotel,” he said.

The funky twins are the world’s smallest four-seaters and join The Langham’s other adopted family members – three luxurious Lexus hybrid limousines.  The five-strong vehicle fleet offers guests convenient and stylish transportation options around town, and provides another innovative service for hotel guests.

“The super chic Ruby and Pearl will be the perfect way for weekend guests, for example, on a girls’ luxury weekend at The Langham to zip from High St to Ponsonby, Newmarket and back – with plenty of room for all those shoe boxes,” he said adding, “with a satellite navigation system in each car, even the most complex shoe buying mission should be a breeze.”

The hire rates, which are inclusive of mileage, petrol and cleaning are: NZ$20 an hour or NZ$80 a day (8 hours), with NZ$15 to purchase an insurance waiver. The cars’ usage is in line with the hotel’s non-smoking policy.
