Darwin will host the 2023 World Community Development Conference ‘From The Edge’, a significant international conference which is expected to attract more than 500 delegates and generate $1.7 in expenditure for the Northern Territory region.

From 20-22 June 2023, Darwin Convention Centre will welcome academics, policymakers, global practitioners and other stakeholders from more than 20 countries, who will come together to learn, discuss and share solutions for community development and community work across two days.

“Our world-class venue is perfectly positioned within the lush tropical setting of the Darwin Waterfront Precinct where delegates can enjoy space to think, opportunities to learn, network and make truly authentic connections that will support the global work of community development,” Darwin Convention Centre general manager, Peter Savoff said.

Centred around the themes of ‘Community, Connection, Culture’, the conference program will feature high-profile keynote presentations, panel debates, workshops and field visits to community development projects in the region, with a focus on First Nations practices of working with communities.

The World Community Development Conference 2023 is supported through Tourism Australia’s Business Events Bid Fund Program.
