Sunshine Tower Hotel in Cairns has completed a multi-million dollar refurbishment program which includes new contemporary furnishings and fittings and a fresh lick of paint to its rooms and public areas.

The team celebrated the iconic hotel’s relaunch with a ribbon-cutting event performed last week by the Hon. Warren Entsch MP, Federal Member for Leichhardt, along with a gathering of civic leaders, tourism colleagues and friends.

Federal Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch said it was terrific to see the Sunshine Tower Hotel back in operation in Cairns after its multi-million dollar refurbishment.

The Sunshine Tower Hotel has a long history in Cairns and it’s great to be able to maintain some of that heritage while updating the establishment to bring it in line with today’s modern standards,” Mr Entsch said.

“I’m especially pleased with the new jobs and demand for services it has created at the hotel, restaurant and beauty salon.

“It’s a real testament to the confidence the Heytman Group has in Cairns as a vibrant international tourist destination with potential for great growth in the future, and I welcome their investment in our city,” Mr Entsch said.

The Heytman Group’s David Heytman said that while the building was established 25 years ago it has been fully refreshed inside and out, spanning accommodation, commercial and public areas and the introduction of increased security to the hotel lobby.

“We are delighted with the results and the opportunity to return one of Cairns’ iconic hotels to its former glory.

“It feels great to be investing in existing infrastructure and making a small but meaningful difference in terms of employment and the local hospitality industry.

“As a team, we are very optimistic to be part of a vibrant regional city that is a world-class and wholly desirable, global destination,” said Mr Heytman.
