The Northern Territory Meetings Muster 12 road-show, which recently finished a cross country tour in late October, has been deemed a great success, with more than 250 guests attending events in Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Attendees included PCOs, Incentive Houses, Destination Management Companies, association event planners and a high percentage of corporate event decision makers.

Industry partners from the Northern Territory teamed up to present ‘Meetings Muster 2012’ at a variety of events across the country in October.

The attendance figures topped the inaugural Meetings Muster event held last year and it is believed that the strong destination appeal of the NT, the glamorous venues used around the country and the array of NT prizes being given away, all combined to attract strong interest.

Four two-night trips to Uluru, Darwin, Top End and Alice Springs were awarded, with the lucky prize winners being Bridget Dixon (Australian Lung Foundation – Brisbane), Natasha Dunn (SAPRO – Adelaide), Tina Nguyen (AOT – Melbourne) and Sophie Newsome (Complimentary Health Care Council – Canberra). In Sydney, where the largest Meetings Muster event was held, Deb Saunders (Encore BT), Polly Nampetch (Events with Moore) and Barbara Addison-Weiss (MCI) were the respective winners of Paspaley pearl earrings, an Mbantua Art Gallery painting and a di CROCO “Zara” pouch bag.

The Meetings Muster venues selected for 2012 added to the appeal of the event and provided a chance for attendees to experience some of Australia’s hottest venues – Cloudland in Brisbane, IVY in Sydney, Vue de Monde in Melbourne, Chianti Classico in Adelaide and the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra.

Scott Lovett, the director of Business Events for the Northern Territory Convention Bureau (NTCB), and Meetings Muster organiser said “This year’s Meetings Muster road-show was a huge success and proves that we’ve got the right formula for these events. They enable us to gently introduce the NT to the uninitiated as well as build relationships with our existing client base, whilst also relaxing and having some fun. We’re aware that a number of new pieces of business are already at quotation stage for Alice Springs, Darwin and beyond and are expecting many more to develop as follow-up is rolled out.”

The NT Meetings Muster 12 road-show also enabled a generous CSR contribution to be made to one of the Northern Territory’s local community-based not-for-profit organisations, children’s indigenous drumming group, Drum Atweme. The NTCB and their 10 industry partners will be providing the group with a donation of $5,000, made possible by forgoing the distribution of the usual promotional gifts to Meetings Muster event attendees.
