Virgin Blue Airlines has introduced a new regional destination with the addition of an hourlong Melbourne to Mildura service, scheduled to commence mid-October.
Virgin Blue CEO, Brett Godfrey, said the airline considered the city in Victoria’s northwest “ripe for picking” based on air service availability, airport infrastructure and the region’s population, economic growth and viability for tourism expansion.
“Mildura will be a great addition to our network,” he said. “We’re confident the new Virgin Blue flights will prove beneficial to the local community, both from a tourism perspective as well as for local residents and business travellers who will have a new choice of airline.
Mildura’s airport will undergo an upgrade to accommodate the new jet services.

Flights are on sale now with launch specials in honour of the region’s fruit growing heritage, including $2 ‘Tutti Fruity’ internet only fares available tonight (August 6) for one hour or until sold out. The regular launch price is $59 plus taxes.
