Meetings & Events Australia has initiated a study in conjunction with the University of SA, asking meeting and event business owners to share their expert insight and knowledge. The outcome will be a combined source of industry best practice for business events in Australia.

“Other industries have benefited from identifying factors that create success,” said MEA’s chief executive officer, Linda Gaunt. “However to date, this type of benchmarking has not been undertaken within meeting and event Management companies, a key sector of the thriving, highly lucrative but extremely competitive global Business Events industry.”

As the peak industry body for the business events industry in Australia, MEA will lead the way and address this deficit through a national study that seeks to examine best practices within companies in Australia.

The national study will draw upon the expertise of the University of South Australia, who are undertaking the research. It is a clear demonstration of MEA’s leadership in the Business Events industry in Australia.

An electronic survey will be sent to the owner/s of independent meeting and event Management companies operating in Australia, by the researchers at the University of South Australia. The survey will request information that relates to the nature of their business, services provided, industry trends and more.

The study is expected to produce a range of information to assist in improving their business and managerial performance and the success of the survey will be highly dependent upon the company’s contacted participating and completing the survey.

“This is the chance for the events industry to demonstrate their business excellence,” said Gaunt. “We ask that everyone who is contacted get involved; and as a combined voice we can really influence our industry in creating a strong foundation for future best practice.”
