Dine with koalas, hold a conference on a train platform, plan a function at a world class restaurant or host your delegates in one of the world’s leading convention centres – you can explore the possibilities with Brisbane Marketing’s newly launched Meeting Planners’ Guide and Unique Venues Guide 2011-2013.

Brisbane Marketing has launched their new Event Planners Guide and Unique Venue’s Guide

Compiled for event managers and planners, the guides are must-have resources for anyone planning a meeting or event in Australia’s new world city.

This year’s guides include some distinctively unique venues, including Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where guests are surrounded by exotic Australian wildlife; Queensland Rail’s historic Platform 3 featuring themed carriages; and the newly opened Aria Restaurant with stunning river views and a menu designed by award-winning chef Matt Moran.

The guides also profile new world-class infrastructure, including the expansion of the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, due to open in late 2011. Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the new guides showcased the city as a world-class business events destination.

“Brisbane is a forward-thinking city powered by innovation, collaboration and opportunity – qualities which are highly sought after by those planning important conventions and events,” Cr Quirk said.

Brisbane Marketing’s director, Convention Bureau,  Annabel Sullivan, said the guides were designed to inspire event planners with a comprehensive overview of Brisbane’s accommodation and venues, as well as city highlights and attractions.

“The guides include some really unique new venues, latest wining and dining options, directory of support services and leisure activities,” Ms Sullivan said.

“Brisbane offers truly authentic and inspiring venues for any type of event or function, from large delegate conferences, through to intimate soirées,” she said.

Key sections covered in the Meeting Planners’ Guide latest edition include: Convention Bureau services; information on key Industries, corporate social responsibility, venues, accommodation, dining and more.

In addition, the Brisbane Unique Venues Guide provides inspiration and information for planners looking for distinctive settings, showcasing some of Brisbane’s secret spaces and the service providers who make the events come to life.

“Both guides have been developed to make it as easy as possible for those planning an event in Brisbane,” Sullivan said.

“In keeping with Brisbane’s green approach, we’ve printed both on FSC certified recycled paper stock and made electronic versions available from our website,” said Sullivan.
