Business Events Geelong’s Virtual Roadshow a huge success

Industry and buyers were brought together via an interactive virtual roadshow, resulting in "overwhelmingly positive feedback."

More than fifty qualified event organisers from all over Australia and abroad attended the Meet Geelong Virtual Roadshow last Wednesday.

Hosted by Business Events Geelong, industry and buyers were brought together via an interactive virtual roadshow on the Remo platform.

The event included six 10-minute one-on-one meetings with industry, a presentation of Business Events Geelong’s all-new destination video hosted by Nicky Buckley, and a live gin tasting led by Anther Distillery spirit maker Dervilla McGowan.

In the lead up to the event, attendees received a mystery box filled with goodies including three different types of Anther Distillery gin, tonic and a tasting glass.

Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with Business Events Geelong convention bureau Manager Mark Day calling the virtual event a massive success.

“With State Borders opening up by the end of the year, we thought it was the perfect time to reconnect the industry with buyers in a format which was interactive, engaging and most importantly…fun!,” Day said.

Feedback for attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, Mr Day said, and he is hopeful that the event will be back again next year.

Warun Ponds Estate senior coordinator sales and events Tegan Clingan attended the event as an exhibitor and she was delighted to meet a range of range of event organisers looking to hold events of all sizes in the region.

“After a difficult year, it was exciting and reassuring to hear that there is still a big demand for in-person events,” Clingan said.

“They want to bring teams and people back together. Our industry has been hit hard by the pandemic—but we will bounce back.”
