Business Events Sydney (BESydney) has appointed a Social Impact Specialist to drive its strategy from the bidding stage all the way through with a focus on social impact measurement.

Tina Demetriou joined the team this week and has a background in event sustainability and stakeholder engagement across the public and private sectors.

The role will see Ms Demetriou focus on providing guidance for event bidding and social impact delivery to working with the client engagement team and global clients to establish shared impact intentions and action plans.

BESydney CEO, Lyn Lewis-Smith, said the organisation is looking forward to taking its social impact agenda to the next level.

“With Tina’s arrival, we move to the fun part of putting it all into action,” Ms Lewis-Smith said.

“It wouldn’t be BESydney if we weren’t underpinning all this with a strategic measurement framework for tracking our business events beyond tourism impact over time.”

Ms Demetriou founded Green Wellbeing, which designs and facilitates programs for businesses to incorporate sustainable actions in the workplace.
