Melbourne's iconic bar and cocktail venue Alumbra celebrated its 10 year anniversary last week with a Garden of Eden themed event for over 500 guests.

Melbourne’s iconic bar and cocktail venue Alumbra celebrated its 10 year anniversary last week (20 September) with a Garden of Eden themed event for over 500 guests.

Reincarnated from its original South Wharf location, Alumbra celebrated past successes and previewed what’s ahead through a celebration from Melbourne’s largest and most influential corporations, charity organisations and sporting clubs.

The Garden of Eden themed event brought together over 500 guests for celebrations.

“It was a poignant opportunity to remind stakeholders that Alumbra is more than a bar or venue, but a gateway into premier entertainment,” said director Simon Digby.

The Garden of Eden concept, in a figurative sense, is a place of bliss and paradise and this celebratory party told the story of creation through Alumbra’s theming, which successfully maneuvereredthe guests through the extraordinary and captivatingly unique event experiences across venue and menu and culinary presentation.

Guests enjoyed all the delights of the Garden of Eden including snake handling.

Since Alumbra opened 10 years ago, the venue has welcomed close to 900,000 guests through the doors and has hosted over 850 functions.

This venue is capable of hosting  corporate functions, DJ events and weekly clubbing nights. Embracing modern and modular design, Alumbra can accommodate up to 750 people across the main bar, event space lounge-style mezzanine level and decking area. Located at the tip of Central Pier, Docklands, Alumbra boasts stunning views of Victoria Harbour and the Bolte Bridge.

Digby claims the versatility of the brand has been critical to the success of the business, “The venue can be transformed into a range of event spaces upon request, from corporate events and wedding receptions, to daytime BBQ functions and breakfast meetings, to a nightclub and cocktail lounge.

“As well as constantly pushing the boundaries of the space at Alumbra, it has also been important for us to raise the stakes and keep things fresh with complementary business ventures like off-site events across Australia and internationally, CDs, music labels and our differentiated nightclub offerings.”

Aerial performers wowed the crowd

Over the past decade the venue has hosted international celebrities including Giselle Bunchen, Meryl Streep and Dita Von Teese . It has also built credibility through a serious of industry alliances with brands including Moet Hennessey, Paradise Club Mykonos, Koncrete Agency and Future Entertainment.

The biggest ever function for Alumbra was 2012 New Year’s Day: 3600 patrons through the doors to see internationally acclaimed DJ’s – Dimitri From Paris (France), John Dahlback (Sweden), The Shapeshifters (UK) and DJ Spen (USA).

Alumbra has also consistently brought to Melbourne some of the most talented dance music artists through its nightclub which operates on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And the most played song by beloved Sunday band, Afrodescia (been with Alumbra for almost 10 years) is ‘Never too much’ by Luther Vandross.
