Almost 400 guests gathered at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) last Tuesday night (15 May) for a glamorous evening of celebration at the venue’s signature event for the year.

The grand banquet room was transformed into an opulent dinner setting, showcasing the adaptability of the space, the venue’s leading in-house audio visual and unparalleled food and wine offering.

The MCEC put on its best for nearly 400 guests last week for a glamourous event.

Taking in the stunning Melbourne skyline from the grand banquet foyer’s unique vantage point, guests enjoyed pre-dinner drinks and canapés before stepping into the grand banquet room for a night of elegance and entertainment.

Guests were entertained by the beautiful vocals of ARIA award winning Katie Noonan, accompanied by 12-piece orchestra Alpha Sinfonia, followed by classical rock opera group The Ten Tenors.

MCEC chefs treated diners to a true taste of Victoria with a three course menu highlighting produce from local suppliers, including Gippsland beef and Yarra Valley Gourmet Greenhouse heirloom vegetables, matched with Heathcote and Yarra Valley wines. The miniature dessert selection featured MCEC’s gold medal winning sorbet.

To seamlessly blend the night’s audio visual and theming, MCEC’s in house AV team worked with EMG Events to incorporate the venue’s existing technology, including lighting, with installations to the banquet room’s impressive 8.5 metre ceiling.

Speaking to the audience on the night, MCEC chief executive Peter King said: “Tonight has been a great opportunity to thank our clients and supporters and showcase what we do well at MCEC.

“I’m incredibly proud of our venue’s achievements and the delivery of excellence within these walls; we want to ensure people continue to have a memorable experience at MCEC and become local advocates for what we do here” said King.

This event was MCEC’s second signature evening and one that promises to become a must-attend event on the Melbourne and business events calendar.
