InterContinental Auckland officially opens

InterContinental Auckland has officially opened in the New Zealand city’s CBD.

Located at One Queen Street, in Auckland, the 139-suite hotel is set among city laneway shopping and dining in the Commercial Bay lifestyle precinct.

Mayor of Auckland Wayne Brown officiated the hotel’s ribbon-cutting ceremony on 30 January, 2024. He was joined by Matthew Tripolone, managing director, Australasia and Pacific, IHG Hotels & Resorts; Scott Pritchard, CEO of Precinct Properties; and Ryan South, general manager, InterContinental Auckland.

“We are delighted to open the doors to InterContinental Auckland,” says Tripolone.

“The hotel will contribute to the local economy, and we believe the power of the world’s largest luxury hotel brand family will bring business and leisure travellers from around the world.”

The experienced South will lead a team of 100 staff at the hotel.

“We are excited by the incredible local and international enthusiasm for the hotel and look forward to welcoming guests to stay and dine,” he says.

The hotel’s signature restaurant, Advieh Restaurant and Bar, offers a contemporary twist on Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine. It will influence the hotel’s Club InterContinental lounge – which opens in mid-2024 – and in-room dining menu.
