General manager appointed for Hannah St. Hotel

TFE Hotels has appointed the inaugural general manager for a new $150 million hotel in Melbourne.

The 188-room Hannah St. Hotel in Southbank, Melbourne, will open its doors this summer, and Peter Minatsis has been appointed as general manager of the property.

The experienced hotelier’s career spans more than two decades across Australia, Fiji and Canada.

Minatsis joins TFE Hotels from Le Méridien Melbourne, where he led its pre-opening and brand relaunch in the Australian market.

His previous roles include general manager at Sheraton Melbourne Hotel, and senior leadership positions at The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa and Sheraton Resort & Spa Tokoriki Island in Fiji.

Minatsis has also held senior positions with Marriott, Westin and Sheraton properties, and currently serves as chair of the Accommodation Australia (Victoria) State Advisory Group.

“We’re delighted to welcome Peter to the team as we prepare to open a hotel that reflects the design, culture and character of its surrounds,” says Chris Sedgwick, group chief operating officer, TFE Hotels.

“His approach aligns with the hotel’s design-forward vision and the guest experience we’re looking to create.

“With his breadth of experience, steady leadership and creative mindset, Peter is the ideal choice to open and lead Hannah St. Hotel.

“His ability to foster high-performing teams and collaborate across all aspects of the operation – from guest experience and service to design, shared services and the broader Queensbridge development – will be instrumental to the hotel’s success.”

Developed by Time & Place, in partnership with construction company Hickory, MaxCap Group and TFE Hotels, the hotel forms part of the landmark mixed-use Queensbridge precinct.

Hannah St. Hotel and the Queensbridge precinct is home to The Clubhouse – several floors featuring wellness spaces, co-working spaces with podcast studio, meeting rooms, lounges, a gym, swimming pool and rooftop hospitality.

The hotel also features two conference rooms, an indoor rooftop event space with city views on the 10th floor, and adaptable meeting areas.

“Hannah St. Hotel is one of the most exciting new hotel experiences to launch in Melbourne – layered and considered in design, rich in local character, and unapologetically original,” says Minatsis.

“It feels like the kind of place Melbourne has been waiting for.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the TFE Hotels team and help bring the brand vision to life.”
