From the Australian Open and the Melbourne Cup, to the Australian Grand Prix and Melbourne Fashion Week, Victoria is becoming a world leader in the creation and delivery of some of the world’s most significant major events.

The Australian Centre for Event Management (ACEM) is offering event enthusiasts the opportunity to improve their skills or those interested in changing careers to the events industry a specialised Executive Certificate of Event Management.

Held from 17th November – 20th November at Victoria University Melbourne, the Executive Certificate provides four days of practical workshops with Australia’s most experienced event industry experts.

“With many event managers and graduate students looking to up-skill and add value to themselves in an existing role, the short courses present a fantastic opportunity to gain specialised skills that are relevant to events of any size or budget,” said Robert Harris, director of the Australian Centre for Event Management.

“As the economy begins to pick up and the Victorian events industry grows and develops, so too do the opportunities for people trained in the management of events. The Executive Certificate presents a fantastic opportunity to gain specialised skills in any sector, whether it’s sporting events and community activities or major corporate events and public festivals. ”

Event coordinator and former ACEM student Yasmin Uzunlar, said the specialised short courses gave her a unique advantage in a tough job market, providing essential training and practical advice.

“The Australian Centre for Event Management not only gave me internationally recognised training and credentials, but also improved my confidence and strategic thinking. I loved hearing practical stories from people with an incredible amount of industry experience,” she said.

“For people looking to study or develop their career, these short courses are a fantastic opportunity to network with the ‘who’s who’ of the industry, and get personal advice in an intimate and relaxed environment.”

The Executive Certificate of Event Management provides a foundation of key skills and knowledge associated with the creation and delivery of corporate, private and public events, covering topics including product launches, conferences, fundraisers, functions, parties, weddings, festivals, street parades, sporting events and more.
