Australia’s largest disability expo opens in Canberra

The ATSA Independent Living Expo heads to the nation's capital for the first time in its 20-year history.

Australia’s largest assistive technology and disability event, the ATSA Independent Living Expo, kicks off today, 27 August 2019, at the National Convention Centre Canberra.

Taking place alongside i-CREATe Conference on 27 and 28 August, the expo has become the most influential event on the disability calendar when it comes to assistive technology.

Allied health professionals, occupational therapists, consumers, distributors and suppliers are expected to attend the expo, which is the first ever Canberra iteration of the event.

The ATSA Independent Living Expo features more than 50 exhibitors, ranging from global brands to local innovations including the Specialised Wheelchair Company, Magic Mobility, Freedom Motors, Variety NSW, iSCREAM Travel, The Good Meal Company and ACT Deafness Resource Centre.

A key feature of the 2019 event is the free seminar program, which features a line-up of industry experts and professionals, including Dr Lloyd Walker, director Assistive Technology at the National Disability Insurance Scheme, Occupational Therapy Australia and Chris Sparks OAM, president of the Physical Disability Council NSW.

Australian not-for-profit organisation Dance Health Alliance, which facilitates dance programs specifically for people with disability, is also set to appear at the first Canberra ATSA Independent Living Expo.
