Segway eco-tours are now available on the NSW South Coast

Segway tours from 30 to 90 minutes are available at Killalea State Park, 90 minutes south of Sydney between Shellharbour and Kiama. The sprawling 265-hectare coastal reserve protects extensive, wetlands, rainforests, Aboriginal heritage and Killalea Beach which is home to the famous surf break, ‘The Farm’, and Minnamurra Beach or ‘Mystics’ as surfers call this long stretch of sand.

All tours include 30 minutes of instruction and practice on the self-balancing, two-wheeled Segways, which are easy to use, extremely manoeuvrable, ‘intuitive’ to ride. The Segways, which can reach speeds of 20 km/h, are suitable for anyone aged 10 and over weighing up to 117kg. Tours accommodate a maximum of eight riders.

Segway Tours South Coast co-founder David Munn said, “Our Segways offer an innovative, sustainable and very exciting way to experience the beauty of Killalea,” said, adding that team-building group experiences at any location had also been introduced, with obstacle courses, time trials and ball sports available. Special occasions such as birthdays and even weddings were also catered for. “Most people can’t stop smiling as soon as they start riding the Segways.”
