More than just an MC

The only measure to a successful event is having delegates leaving already knowing they’re coming back the next year.

Gerry Gannon believes you need to MC an event from within – so in touch with the subject matter and audience that they think you’re one of them. He’s been flattered over the years of being asked at health conferences – was he a doctor? Or at a Mining conference – was he an engineer?

Gerry has seen this philosophy proven to be true over and over again in his twenty years of MC and event facilitation across Australia and occasionally internationally.

The days of an event MC being there purely to introduce speakers or announce that lunch is ready are well and truly over. Delegates expect more. They expect serious value for their time, and the glue that brings that value together is your MC.

Gerry knows that to keep an audience engaged for an entire day (or sometimes 3 entire days!) an MC has to be a facilitator, a comedian, a CEO, a professional and an empathetic human. His natural inquisitiveness and intellectual clarity allows him to read an audience and flex to their responsiveness, keeping them engaged from start to finish.

Gerry leans on his background in broadcast media control the tone and energy of an event, making sure delegates are informed, entertained and empowered. His quick Irish wit adds a unique flavour that has the audience and presenters on their toes, not knowing when they might be surprised with a challenge from the lively facilitator.

A keynote speaker, media trainer and public speaker educator himself, Gerry can adapt to any format of event across any industry or specialisation.

Some of Gerry’s recent and regular events include:

  • Several LGNSW conferences.
  • Four annual events for Vertical Events
  • Annual Floodplain Management conference
  • Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia
  • IPWEA Fleet Management Conference
  • Rural Health West Annual Conference.
