Sydney yoga studio, Power Living, is running its first health and lifestyle retreat at Byron Bay — the nation’s zen capital — to help stressed Aussies cope with the economic downturn.

The six-day ‘Bootcamp for the Soul’ from May 10 to 15 will offer all men and women seeking to slow down a unique and holistic workout for the mind, body and spirit at the secluded Tallow Beach Houses retreat nestled in beachside bush land just south of Byron Bay on the NSW north coast.

Activities will include meditation and yoga sessions for novices and experienced yogis on the beach, silent Buddha walking meditations along the coast, wilderness treks, free time to swim and surf, nutritional cuisine and inspiring lifestyle workshops specifically designed to help people deal with stress generated by the worldwide credit crunch.

The retreat will be led by Australia’s internationally-acclaimed yoga guru, Duncan Peak, a former grade footballer and elite paratrooper who pioneered athletic-style Power Yoga in Australia in 2005.

“As the economy shrinks, our vibrancy is also disappearing so this new retreat at Byron Bay will give guests time out to recharge physically and spiritually so we can shine through the toughest of times,” Duncan said. “Our previous retreats near Sydney have proved the biggest in Australia with the lives of many guests transformed and it’s our aim that our new retreat in beautiful Byron Bay will add beauty to the lives of everyone who attends.”

Popular with men and women and designed as a complete workout for the body, mind and soul, Power Yoga is an athletic and meditative form of yoga practiced in heated rooms that torches calories, sculpts and detoxes bodies, relaxes the mind and leaves participants looking younger and feeling energised.

More than 2000 people attend classes each week at Power Living’s Sydney studio in Neutral Bay, with other studios opening around Australia soon.

The bootcamp is priced from $1499 per person including beach house accommodation, all meals, yoga classes and other activities. For bookings or more information, call 02 9904 4874 or click here.
