Where to drink and dine during Vivid

Don't miss these interactive, Vivid-inspired food and beverage experiences.

Vivid Sydney 2019 is now in full swing, illuminating the city for the annual festival of light, music and ideas.

There’s so much to discover across Sydney, including an array of restaurants and bars that are getting into the Vivid spirit with their own activations and culinary creations running until 15 June.

If you’re looking for somewhere to take clients, corporate teams or just to enjoy the festival yourself, here are our top picks for where to eat and drink this Vivid:

Mode Kitchen & Bar

Mode Kitchen & Bar at Four Seasons Sydney is offering a 4D sensory dining experience during Vivid.

The 360-degree interactive dinner will take guests on a culinary journey, with each dish and cocktail matched to a light show inspired by the same colour.

The Chroma dinner is inspired by the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) colours native to any imagery creation and includes a four-course meal with matching cocktails. The fourth course, called The Sweet Canvas, sees diners paint their own dessert before eating it.

Cruise Bar

Cruise Bar has partnered with Cointreau for an exciting Vivid activation on the ground level of the Circular Quay venue.

The space has been transformed with Cointreau’s signature neon orange colour and cosy furnishings, while Cruise Bar’s expert mixologists will be serving up a series of special cocktails.

Among the Vivid cocktails is a Cointreau Margarita and Cointreau Cosmopolitan, as well as hot Cointreau Mulled Wine.

12-Micron

The Barangaroo restaurant has partnered with French Champagne house Perrier-Jouët to deliver an immersive dining experience during Vivid.

12-Micron’s private dining room will be transformed into a stunning light exhibition, where a dining in the dark series will take place.

Diners will immerse themselves in the display for an experiential dinner guided by 12-Micron’s ‘sense whisperers’, who will lead diners through five courses, each matched to Perrier-Jouët Champagne.

O Bar and Dining

O Bar and Dining not only offers an unbeatable vantage point to watch the Vivid lights, it’s also serving up a limited edition glowing cocktail to go along with it.

Wittily called the Scarlett Glohansson, the cocktail features Four Pillars gin infused with lemon peel, Limoncello, raspberry syrup, freeze dried raspberries and rosemary.

Café del Mar

Café del Mar is the prime spot to soak up Darling Harbour’s Vivid action. The restaurant is offering a special Vivid Candlelight Dinner, where guests can indulge in the Vivid Feast Menu including a glass of sangria or mulled wine.

Also on the Vivid menu is the Robot Moon Dessert, a hand-painted moon of house-made white chocolate, frozen with liquid nitrogen at your table, and the Cosmonaught cocktail, a Vivid take on the classic Cosmopolitan.

Sydney Opera House

The iconic venue is upping the ante this Vivid, with a pop-up bar in collaboration with Newtown bar The Midnight Special.

Inspired by rock band and Vivid LIVE headliner The Cure, Spellbound will serve up dishes like brioche sliders with confit duck rillettes and traditional Croque Monsieur at long banquet tables adorned with illuminated fruit centrepieces, bouquets and skulls.

Visitors can also enjoy a botanical cocktail from Pyewacket’s Traditional Shrubs or a beer from local brewers Grifter Brewing Co., Moo Brew and Young Henrys.
