Where to celebrate Melbourne Cup in 2020

Venues across the country are hosting COVID-safe events for this year's race.

While Melbourne Cup is certainly going to look different this year (our thoughts are with you Melbourne!), there are still plenty of venues across the country gearing up for the race.

Corporate groups can still celebrate the annual event in a COVID-safe way, by booking a ticket to one of the many Melbourne Cup events taking place on 3 November 2020.

Here, we’re sharing some of the celebrations on offer for groups:

NSW

Pier One Sydney Harbour

Pier One Sydney Harbour will host The Maison Mumm Hotel “off track” for Melbourne Cup this year, bringing G.H.Mumm’s flagship celebration to Sydney.

The Admiral Suite Private Party or Harbour Balcony Suite Private Party includes a four-hour beverage package including G.H.Mumm Champagne and a “feature bath” filled with bottles of champagne or decadent desserts while the race action plays on flatscreen TVs. This exclusive experience is priced at $5,500 for 10 guests.

The Exclusive Harbourside Pier Booths are also available for hire for up to 10 guests ($1,000 minimum spend), while Cup Day Lunch at The Gantry is on offer for $250 per person.

Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel

This Melbourne Cup Day, Sydney’s Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel is offering a three-course menu with fresh seafood to start and a drink on arrival.

Merivale venues

Merivale venues across Sydney have an array of Melbourne Cup packages on offer this year, from Italian-inspired lunches in the city to Champagne-studded soirees in Sydney’s north.

Inner-city icon Mr. Wong is serving up Melbourne Cup lunch, Cantonese style for $250 per person, while The Newport in the Northern Beaches is offering a courtyard package for $160 per person.

The Moseley Bar and Kitchen

Adelaide punters can head to The Moseley in Glenelg for a seaside lunch to celebrate the race.

For $59 per person, guests can enjoy lunch with a two-hour drinks package, with DJ tunes playing from 3pm. Book tickets here.

Electra House

Following the success of last year’s festivities, Adelaide’s Electra House is bringing back its three-floor fiesta.

Punters can dine Omakase style and sip on a premium drinks package at Level One restaurant, join a VIP affair in the New York-inspired private event spaces on Level Two or opt for a casual event on the ground floor with grazing boards and cocktails.

ACT

QT Canberra

QT Canberra is bringing the flavour and fashion of spring racing to Capitol Bar & Grill on Melbourne Cup Day with a lunch package on offer from $135 per person.

Groups can enjoy a glass of G.H Mumm Champagne before the three-course feast, including an indulgent seafood platter with full wine list available. Book here.

QLD

Donna Chang

Donna Chang, located in Brisbane’s CBD, is offering a four-hour package, including a four-course banquet, deluxe beverage package, live entertainment and charity sweepstakes.

Mr Percival’s

For $285 per person, groups of four or more can enjoy a seated lunch and 3.5-hour beverage package including Mr P’s cocktails, Champagne, Felons Brewing Co. beer, red and white wine and spirits.

Pagoda Resort & Spa

Pagoda Resort & Spa is offering free-flowing beverages, three-course lunch and live entertainment in the Historic Ballroom for $125 per person.

Hosted in Optus Stadium’s Sports Lounge, the celebrations kick off the day at 11am with a five-hour food and drink package.

Fashion lovers can enter the Fashions Over the Field of Play, while drag entertainer BarbieQ and friends will spice up the day with live entertainment.
