Local chieftains preside over the festival

Destination management company dmAfrica is currently promoting outbound travel to the Ouidah Voodoo Festival for small incentive groups.

The itinerary includes a visit to a traditional healer, a trip to a local fetish market where guests can peruse the ingredients necessary to perform voodoo sacrifices and buy ‘gris-gris’, spells used to solve everyday problems. Guests will also witness a traditional fire dance, an ashanti funeral and visit religious sites such as the Temple of Pythons, in addition to being immersed in a festival that attracts all the major chieftains in the African continent.

The festival is largely performance-based

dmAFRICA clients will also be given the chance to have a brief audience with the King of Benin.

This 12-day itinerary starts and ends in Accra, Ghana, accessible via Johannesburg to Accra on South African Airways. The cost of the tour depends on the group size (maximum 16 people).
