Featuring an app with never-seen-before features, a menu curated by Jill Dupleix and put together by Aria Catering and 16 surprising speakers, it’s one of the biggest days on the Australian event calendar.

TEDxSydney Licensee Remo Giuffre said that the program covers intellectual, human interest and storytelling-style speakers, as well as a musical program by Jordan Verzar that spans everything from indie to well-known melodic artists.

The annual ‘festival of ideas’ welcomes a new Editorial Director, with Jan Ryan handing over the reigns to Edwina Throsby. Guiffre said, “I’m really excited about what Edwina is coming up with. There is an overarching theme of connection; people connecting with other people and connecting with ideas.”

In terms of getting your application approved, Guiffre said, “We look for someone who really wants to be there; who is doing interesting things, is engaging and engaged. Someone you can imagine having a really good chat with in the coffee line. It’s not about seniority or the ‘usual suspects’. We’re really focussed on diversity – the TEDx version of Noah’s Ark – so we’re looking for people of different ethnicities, ages and careers. If we accepted everyone who works at an advertising agency, that’s all we would have!”.
