The Bash, an eight day driving trek through the country sees groups of friends take a madcap journey for a good cause. It’s not a race or rally, just simply fun.

The 21st birthday of the SA Variety Bash celebrated in style as a National Variety Bash. It departed Adelaide on Saturday August 15 and finish eight days later on Saturday August 22 in Alice Springs, joining bashers from across other states of Australia for a spectacular final night dinner.

The penguin team participated in an eight day race for charity.

All vehicles must be in standard condition and shall be models constructed prior to December 1974. The drivers and crews, however, are anything but standard issue with most Bashers taking the one and only major rule seriously- not to take the event seriously!

This year, South Australia’s 21st year of participation saw volunteer bashers contributing to the overall national total of $7.9M net.

Australia’s highest fundraisers, the Precocious Penguins of car 222, sponsored by Adelaide Airport Limited have over four years of fundraising, contributed $553K.
