Pantone reveals 2019 colour of the year

You can expect to see this vibrant colour used in event décor, furniture and graphic designs in 2019.

Colour standards provider Pantone has named Living Coral, a “vibrant yet mellow” shade of orange with a golden undertone, as the Pantone Color of the Year 2019.

Inspired by coral reefs, the colour is described as a nurturing shade that mesmerises the eye and the mind.

Event organisers can expect to see Living Coral used in a number of ways in 2019, from event décor and furniture to graphic designs.

According to Pantone, Living Coral shag rugs, cozy blankets and lush upholsteries create a warm, comforting and nurturing feeling. It can also add a dramatic pop of colour when used in decorative accessories, table settings or on a wall.

The Color of the Year 2019 was also inspired by the rise of digital technology and social media and its influence on daily life.

“With consumers craving human interaction and social connection, the humanising and heartening qualities displayed by the convivial Pantone Living Coral hit a responsive chord,” said Pantone Color Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman.

For 20 years, Pantone Color of the Year has influenced trends and product development across a range of industries including fashion, design and furnishings.
