EXCLUSIVE BY JAMES WILKINSON

InterContinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) Chief Operating Officer for Australasia, Bruce McKenzie, says the mid-market is the opportunity for growth in the accommodation industry going forward.

Speaking exclusively to SpiceNews on camera, McKenzie said the opportunity for new-build properties in Australia was for mid-market hotels and for IHG that means potential growth for its Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands.

He also said the company’s refresh program for Holiday Inn was now complete and the recent opening of the Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu has strengthened the brand across the region.
